Law enforcers come to search "Memorial"* and "Civil Assistance"*

Searches are underway in Moscow offices of the human rights organizations "Memorial"* and "Civil Assistance"*, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial"* has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 29, 2021, the Moscow City Court (MCC) ruled to liquidate the HRC "Memorial"*, deciding that the centre was justifying extremism and terrorism. On February 14, it became known that the defence filed an appeal against the decision of the MCC.

"The office of the 'Memorial' in Karetny Ryad is being searched," the HRC "Memorial"* reported at 11:01 a.m. Moscow time in its Telegram channel "Full HRC".

Simultaneously, the search is underway in the office of the "Civil Assistance"*, says another post of the HRC dated 11:06 a.m. Moscow time. "The organization provides legal assistance to refugees and migrants in Russia," it explains.

*The organization has been put by the Russian Ministry of Justice into the register of non-commercial organizations performing the functions of a foreign agent.
