Dagestani journalists report details of their conflict with law enforcers

By detaining journalists at the venue of their picket in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev in Makhachkala, policemen decided in this way to remove the poster from the eyes of the officials whose motorcade was supposed to pass by the venue, Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik" (Draft) outlet, and journalist Murad Muradov* believe. They have stated that they will challenge law enforcers' actions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 11, policemen detained Magomed Magomedov, who went out to a solo picket in Gadjiev's support. Murad Muradov, a journalist who was filming the picket, was also detained. On the same day, the journalists were released from the police station.

Gadjiev's colleagues are regularly holding pickets in Makhachkala in his support, at which they also demand to stop persecuting journalists and release political prisoners.

A policeman, without introducing himself, rudely snatched the poster and demanded that other policemen convoy Magomedov to the police station, Magomed Magomedov himself has stated. He believes that there are obvious violations in law enforcers' actions.

According to Magomedov, law enforcers explained that they had information about the picketer's plans to rush under the officials' motorcade that was supposed to drive in this place in order "to attract attention."
