Journalists Magomed Magomedov and Idris Yusupov held solo pickets in Makhachkala with the demand to stop the criminal prosecution of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the Dagestani weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft).
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev consider his criminal case to be political persecution and regularly hold solo pickets in Makhachkala in support of him. In particular, the number of the picketers includes Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the newspaper “Chernovik”, Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Chernovik”, and Idris Yusupov, a journalist of the publication “Novoye Delo” (New Clause).
On Monday, two solo pickets were held by Abdulmumin Gadjiev’s colleagues in Makhachkala, the “Chernovik” reported. “We demand freedom for journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev and the termination of the absurd criminal case against him,” the “Chernovik” reported in its Telegram channel.
Let us remind you that Abdulmumin Gadjiev, the editor of the newspaper “Chernovik”, Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the “Ansar” charitable foundation, and Kemal Tambiev have been in custody since June 2019 on the charge of financing terrorism.
On February 9, the court appointed a new examination of Abdulmumin Gadjiev’s articles, and in connection with that fact, the hearings on the case were postponed for an indefinite period of time, a spouse of Abdulmumin Gadjiev reported.
