Case of Regina Kirts from KBR on army discrediting returned to police

The Chegem District Court of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has returned to the police the administrative case against Regina Kirts, accused of discrediting the Russian Army, because of the revealed violations.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 24, 2023, it became known that a protocol had been drawn up against Regina Kirts, a resident of Chegem, for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

The court ruling states that there are a number of shortcomings in the case that "prevent its acceptance for proceedings," the "OVD-Info"* project reports. In particular, the materials are not fully provided; and the protocol fails to specify what the publicity of Kirtz's actions was expressed in, and who was an eyewitness to her actions. Besides, it is indicated that Kirts "disagree with the protocol and denies the fact of an offense."

The article that provides for a fine to be imposed on citizens for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces was enforced on March 4, 2022. Under this article, participants in pacifist actions and authors of posts in social networks are held accountable. A repeated violation within a year threatens with criminal prosecution.
