Photo of new version of story about deportation in Russian history textbook released

In the new version of the chapter on the Great Patriotic War, which was sharply criticized by residents of Northern Caucasus, the deportation is called a "tragic history page." It follows from the photo posted by the "Baza" outlet.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ramzan Kadyrov had demanded to rewrite the chapter of the new school textbook on Russian history, in which the deportation of Caucasian nations was explained by their collaboration with German fascists. Social media users supported his demand.

Now, the chapter from the textbook co-written by Vladimir Medinsky and Anatoly Torkunov, which caused Kadyrov's criticism, has been edited, the "Baza" has informed.

"A tragic page in the history of the Great Patriotic War was the mass deportation of 12 nations in 1941-1944, who were indiscriminately accused, given the frontline proximity and hostilities ... of treason, and subjected to forced relocation (deportation) ... In the shortest possible time, hundreds of thousands of people were under escort sent to the other end of the country – to Siberia and Central Asia," the excerpt of the textbook now says.
