Law enforcers return what was seized during search to Dagestani historian Donogo
Almost a year later, law enforcers have returned the last file with documents seized during the search, Khadji-Murad Donogo, a Dagestani historian, has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 20, 2023, Khadji-Murad Donogo, a former deputy director of the Dagestani Museum, informed that his computer, flash drives and phone were returned to him, but the books seized during the search were still being checked. He then noted that law enforcers had apologized.
On November 30, 2022, law enforcers searched Donogo's home and also asked him about his participation in scientific conferences in Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey. The historian suggested that the search could have been carried out after the denunciation due to its publications. According to his story, due to the seizure of materials, his scientific work was placed under threat.
Mr Donogo reported on the documents returned by law enforcers in his Telegram channel. "They couldn't and found nothing 'terrible'," he has written, noting that he had no plans to return to his work.
Professor Khadji-Murad Donogo is a Caucasian scholar, Doctor of Historical Sciences; he is the author of dozens of books and monographs, including about the Caucasian War and Imam Shamil.
Let us remind you that in October, Idris Yusupov, a journalist, held three solo pickets in Makhachkala demanding an end to the persecution of Mr Donogo.
