Aid collection for Palestinians unites residents of Ingushetia

Residents of Ingushetia have perceived the collection of humanitarian aid for Palestinians as a nationwide action and have started bringing to aid reception centres even the money that they had set aside for medical treatment or from their pensions, Khasan Nalgiev, the head of the "Tesham" Charitable Fund, has reported. He has added that in total 200 tons of humanitarian aid and about 80 million roubles have been collected. Residents of the republic have stated that it was the indifference of the world community to the tragedy of Palestine that has pushed them to take an active part in the campaign.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 29, Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, the head of Ingushetia, reported that the volume of aid collected in the republic amounted to 150 tons. The aid includes foodstuffs, tents, bedding, medicines, clothes and other things.

In ten days, more than 200 tons of humanitarian aid and about 80 million roubles were collected in Ingushetia, which were used to purchase basic necessities for forcibly displaced residents of Gaza who suffered from Israeli attacks, Mr Nalgiev has summed up.

"Adults and children have taken part; entire schools collected aid; many old people came, who used to put aside their pensions, and brought their savings to us. Two sisters have brought their money: one collected it for the Umrah (a small voluntary pilgrimage to Mecca – note of the "Caucasian Knot") the other – for her tooth braces. They donated everything they had collected. A dentist responded to this and decided to provide her with braces for free," Khasan Nalgiev has added.

He has also informed that In Ingushetia, people are awaiting the arrival of refugees from the Gaza Strip and are looking for opportunities to satisfy their basic needs.

The campaign to collect aid for Gaza has united residents of Ingushetia, an activist from the above "Tesham" Fund has added.

Residents of Ingushetia have explained the reasons for their participation in collecting aid for Palestinians. Thus, Adam, one of the volunteers of the "Tesham" Fund, said that he was prompted to take part in the charitable campaign by a video about what was happening in Palestine.

Ruslan, a university teacher in Ingushetia, has explained that he took part in collecting aid because he was outraged by the inaction of the world community in relation to the Israel's actions in Palestine.
