Sochi law enforcers treat detention of activist Vladimir Atamanchuk as mistake

Vladimir Atamanchuk, an activist from Sochi was released by policemen on the day of his detention after a call from his advocate. They have stated that the detention was a mistake.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 19, Atamanchuk was detained at the railway station in Sochi. He has linked his detention with his statement to the territorial election commission (TEC) about his refusal to vote at the presidential election, which he treated as illegitimate.

After a call from his advocate, with whom he was supposed to meet in Sochi, he was released an hour later. According to Atamanchuk, he was detained because earlier, on March 14, he was put on the wanted list. The activist intends to turn to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) "on the fact of politically-motivated persecution."

"After I was brought to police station, they began making photos of me from all sides, although they had no reason for this. After the advocate's call, they stopped mocking me and let me go, saying that "the search is no longer relevant," Vladimir has explained.

"They didn't even apologize to me, but simply kicked me out of the station," Atamanchuk has added.

Let us recall that on November 11, 2023, investigators closed the case of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces against Atamanchuk, but opened a criminal case of libel against him.
