A court in Crimea has sentenced a resident of the Krasnodar Territory (also known as Kuban by the name of the main river) to 6.5 years in penal colony, finding him guilty of trying to get to Ukraine to take part in hostilities against Russian troops.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this May a court in Voronezh sentenced Alexander Shevchenko, a resident of the Rostov Region, to 24 years and four months of freedom deprivation under a treason case. According to law enforcers, he tried to get to Ukraine aiming to take part in hostilities against the Russian Army.

"It has been established that the defendant, in order to join armed formations in the territory of Ukraine and take part in military operations against the Russian Federation, initiated a contact with the Ukrainian intelligence," the RIA "Novosti" has quoted the Crimean Prosecutor's Office as stating.
