KChR resident convicted of using nickname in an online game

Experts have treated the pro-Ukrainian nickname that a resident of Cherkessk used to call himself in an online game as a demonstration of extremist organizations' symbols.

According to the prosecution, the above resident of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) "had views of extremist nature," based on which he chose his nickname for an online game in January. The nickname was created based on the official greeting of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The man also posted slogans recognized in the Russian Federation as attributes and symbols of an extremist organization in a group chat of online game participants, the United Press Service of KChR's Courts has reported on its page in the "VKontakte" social network.

The court has sentenced the above resident of Cherkessk to 400 hours of compulsory labour. The maximum punishment provided for in the article is up to four years of imprisonment or forced labour.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on May 24, a court in Cherkessk arrested six republic residents suspected of involvement in an extremist organization.
