Rebels shoot down federal Mi-8 helicopter in Chechnya

In Chechnya rebels have shot down a Mi-8 federal helicopter from a mobile rocket launcher, three crew members had been killed, a spokesman for the headquarters of the combined forces told Interfax on Thursday evening.

The helicopter was shot down during an operation on landing troops in mountainous wood terrain. "It was hit by a rocket fired from the ground", the spokesman said.
