Mourning events held in Beslan on the 20th anniversary of school capture

Mourning events were held in North Ossetia to mark the 20th anniversary of school capture in Beslan. There, at School No. 1, the mourning ceremony began with the ringing of the school bell; its participants commemorated the victims of the terror act.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2023, hundreds of people gathered in Beslan for the 19th anniversary of the school assault. People who came to School No. 1 in Beslan lit candles, brought flowers in memory of the victims, and left bottles of water in the school gym.

On September 1, 2004, militants took 1128 hostages in the gym of School No. 1 in Beslan. 334 people perished, including 186 children; other 810 people received various wounds.

On September 1-3, North Ossetia will host a number of mourning events to mark the 20th anniversary of the school capture. The cultural and patriotic centre for the prevention of terrorism "Beslan. School No. 1" will be open to visitors for all three days.

On September 2, a presentation of the book "Red Cross. Beslan, We Are Together" and a screening of the documentary "Beslan Citizens" by film director Vadim Tsalikov will be held. On September 3, flowers and wreaths will be laid at the Tree of Sorrow Memorial, the "15th Region" outlet has reported.
