Dagestan: shootout takes place in CTO zone

Tonight, on the outskirts of the village of Ulubi-Aul of the Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan, an armed clash occurred between law enforcers and suspected militants. The counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime is still valid within the territory of the Karabudakhkent District.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at 9:00 p.m. Moscow time of August 27, the CTO legal regime was introduced within the administrative borders of the Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan. Law enforcers were searching for members of illegal armed formation (IAFs) and their accomplices.

"On the outskirts of the village of Ulubi-Aul, the units of federal forces clashed with unidentified people, who then escaped," reported a source from the law enforcement bodies of the region.

According to the source, an abandoned submachine gun was found at the place of the armed clash. This morning, the special operation to search for militants has been resumed.

Besides, the source has also reported that the day before, two suspected accomplices of militants were detained in the village of Ulubi-Aul. At home of one of the detainees, law enforcers discovered several improvised grenades, an F-1 grenade, and ammunition.
