Armed forces report active Russian-Armenian exercises

Over 1000 soldiers and officers from the Russian military base and the armed forces of Armenia take part in exercises at the Bagramyan military training ground, the Southern Military District reports. Joint exercises of air defence are scheduled for October 8, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for Armenia reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 17, large-scale military exercises began in the troops of the Southern Military District.

Battalion tactical exercises involving the Armenian armed forces will end on October 14, the press service of the Southern Military District reports.

"More than 1000 soldiers and more than 200 units of military equipment will be involved in the exercises," reports the website of the Russian Ministry of Defence.

The task of the Russian military base in Armenia is to cover the southern flank of Russia and ensure the protection of Armenia as a party to the Collective Security Treaty.

Earlier, the training of radiation, chemical, and biological defence units was held in Armenia, the newspaper "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" reports.
