Dagestani MIA denies involvement of law enforcers in Gasanguseinov brothers' murder

At a meeting with students of the Dagestani State University, Abdurashid Magomedov, Dagestani Minister of Internal Affairs, announced that employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) "had not been involved in the killing of Nabi and Gasangusein Gasanguseinov brothers."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from September 24, the parents of Nabi and Gasangusein Gasanguseinov, killed in Dagestan, were holding pickets in Makhachkala. On October 1, more than 300 people came to support them. The protesters succeeded in seeking the transfer of the case on the brothers' murder to the central office of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

On August 23, 2016, the 17-year-old Nabi and the 19-year-old Gasangusein Gasanguseinov, residents of the village of Goor-Khindakh, were shot dead in the Shamil District. Law enforcers then declared the murdered brothers to be militants, saying that the young people had opened fire on them from Kalashnikov submachine guns. The Gasanguseinovs' fellow villagers demanded to punish those responsible for their murder, asserting that the guys were shepherds and had nothing to do with militants.

On November 3, at a meeting with students of the Dagestani State University, Abdurashid Magomedov, Dagestani Minister of Internal Affairs, was asked about the case of the killed Gasanguseinov brothers, the "Kavkaz.Realii" reports.

According to the edition, one of the students reminded Abdurashid Magomedov that during a rally on October 1, he stated he was "hearing for the first time" about the involvement of policemen in the brothers' killing.

At the meeting with the students, Abdurashid Magomedov announced that the police had not been involved in the tragedy.

"I declare with all my power that MIA's employees are not involved in those events," stated the Minister as quoted by the "Kavkaz.Realii".
