Editor-in-chief of Azerbaijani website accused of anti-state appeals

The Prosecutor's Office has charged Mustafa Gadjibeili, the editor-in-chief of the opposition publication "bastainfo.com", with public appeals against the state, abuse of office, and forgery. Mustafa Gadjibeili pleaded not guilty.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 1, border guards did not allow Mustafa Gadjibeili to fly to Georgia and referred to the prohibition of the General's Prosecutor Office of Azerbaijan. Mustafa Gadjibeili reported that the website was blocked after the publication about an attempted assassination of the head of Ganja.

14 users of social networks were arrested for publications on social networks about blackouts on July 3 and the attempted assassination of the head of Ganja. The General Prosecutor's Office demanded to close a number of websites, including the website "bastainfo.com".

Mustafa Gadjibeili does not consider himself guilty, since he fulfilled his professional mission of informing the public on socially significant issues.

Similar charges have also been brought against Anar Mamedov, the editor-in-chief of the website "criminalaz.som", the "meydan.tv" reports.

Journalists face up to 12 years of imprisonment.

Let us noted that Mustafa Gadjibeili heads the press service of the "Musavat" Party, and he is a brother of Arif Gadjily, the head of the organization.
