Akhmed Pogorov put on the federal wanted list

Law enforcers have announced a federal search for Akhmed Pogorov, a co-chairman of the World Congress of the Ingush People, who figures as a witness in the case of clashes at a rally in Ingushetia. Mr Pogorov could face an arrest, his advocates say.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on March 26, 2019, the participants of the sanctioned rally in Magas, the capital of Ingushetia, refused to disperse, and in the morning on March 27, there were clashes of protesters with law enforcers. According to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), 10 law enforcers were injured in clashes. On April 7, Akhmed Pogorov, a co-chairman of the World Congress of the Ingush People, posted a video message in which he treated the events in the square in Magas as a provocation and promised to pay all the fines imposed on the activists. Pogorov himself was fined by the court by 20,000 roubles.

Mr Pogorov was put on the wanted list on April 27, as a person hiding from investigators by breaking his recognizance not to leave, although he had not given it, the Telegram channel of the Ingush activists "Fortanga.ORG" has stated today. The message is accompanied by a screenshot of information from the search database. So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no confirmation of the authenticity of this screenshot.
