Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov appointed acting head of Ingushetia
On June 26, President Putin accepted resignation of the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, and appointed Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov as acting head of Ingushetia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 24, Yunus-Bek Evkurov asked Vladimir Putin to dismiss him from the post of the head of Ingushetia.
The decree on his appointment is posted on the Kremlin's website. According to the Kremlin's press service, President Putin met Mr Kalimatov immediately after Evkurov's resignation and announced his decision to appoint him an acting head of Ingushetia.
"To appoint Kalimatov, Makhmud-Ali Maksharipovich, as the acting head of the Republic of Ingushetia until the person elected as the head of the Republic of Ingushetia takes office," the decree says.
Until 1995, Kalimatov worked as a senior investigator in the Prosecutor's Office of the Samara Region; and then was transferred to the post of first deputy public prosecutor of Ingushetia. From August 2004 to April 2007, he was the public prosecutor of Ingushetia. In 2008, Kalimatov returned to the Samara Region and headed the local branch of the "Rosprirodnadzor" (the Russian Federal Service for Nature Use Supervision), the "Novaya Gazeta" informs.
