Police interested in video about Islam Kadyrov's brutality
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has launched a check after the publication of the images, in which Islam Kadyrov, a former Mayor of Grozny, threatens local residents with execution and uses an electric shocker. The information released on October 24 had earlier become the reason for the dismissal of the official, the authorities of Chechnya have explained.
The footage that has triggered the check against Islam Kadyrov was shown in the night new programme of the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Company) on October 24. A 13-minute-long story shows Islam Kadyrov, while being the Mayor of Grozny, applies an electric shocker (stun gun) to a woman, threatens with execution and blackmails her. In another video, Islam Kadyrov threatens a judge who had large utility debts, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has reported.
On October 24, the "Grozny" ChGTRK reported on its website it had exclusive videos at its disposal that captured the brutal methods of Islam Kadyrov's work with detained residents of Chechnya. This, according to the version of the TV channel, caused him to be fired from the post of Mayor of Grozny.
Salambek Mutiev, a deputy chief of the MIA's city criminal investigation department, said, in his comment on this information, that a check had been launched against the former Mayor of Grozny.
The name of Islam Kadyrov had also appeared in mass media in connection with the inquiry into the assassination attempt on Ramzan Kadyrov, which is why he was excommunicated from the inner encirclement of the head of Chechnya, the "Kavkaz.Realii" reports.
