Detainees from Makhachkala shelter complain about being beaten by police
Lawyer Patimat Nuradinova reported about filing complaints to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) about beating by the police of the people detained at a shelter apartment for victims of domestic violence in Makhachkala and the illegal keeping of the detainees at a law enforcement body.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on June 10, Dagestani law enforcers and their colleagues from Chechnya came to the Makhachkala shelter apartment for victims of domestic violence. Administrative protocols were drawn up against Maisarat Kilyaskhanova and human rights defender Svetlana Anokhina for failure to obey to the police. Other young women were also detained. Meanwhile, Chechen native Khalimat Taramova, who fled from her relatives because of the beatings, was taken home by the police.
The “Caucasian Knot” correspondent learned from Olga Gnezdilova, a lawyer of the NGO “Legal Initiative”*, that concerning Khalimat Taramova, it was reported that she was handed over to her relatives in Chechnya and there was no contact with her.
According to lawyer Olga Gnezdilova, all the detainees were beaten, and there are abrasions and other injuries on the open parts of their bodies.
Lawyer Patimat Nuradinova also confirmed to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that the detainees were beaten. The lawyer filed a complaint about the illegal actions of the policemen, including the illegal keeping of the detainees at the law enforcement building for more than three hours.
