Chechen Ombudsperson demonstratively rejects UN remarks on human rights violations

The authorities of Chechnya have disregarded the remarks of the UN Human Rights Committee (HRC) for a long time; the problems with human rights highlighted therein have been created artificially, Mansur Soltaev, the Chechen Ombudsperson, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 4, the UN HRC pointed to human rights violations in Northern Caucasus, emphasizing the persecution of brothers from Chechnya, Salekh Magamadov and Ismail Isaev, who were convicted of aiding a militant, as well as the suppression of anti-mobilization protests.

"The HRC's remarks have not been taken seriously by us for a long time. With their statements, they destroy the last remnants of trust in international organizations," the Ombudsperson Mansur Soltaev wrote in his channel.

"We are ready to defend our national, cultural and historical traditions ... The devil forces seek to undermine the foundations of traditional societies, in particular the Chechen society. The technologies for such destructive work have long been invented. Therefore, the chatter at the UN is another attempt to spread these technologies," Mr Soltaev has summed up.
