Activist Melikhova considers threat of eviction from her house continuation of repression
Marina Melikhova faces the threat of eviction of her family from their house in Adygea. Earlier, the activist was engaged in business, and she was declared bankrupt, accused of tax evasion. Law enforcers broke into the development centre that the activist opened in Krasnodar. A court marshal claimed that the Marina Melikhova’s house is used as a hostel.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Marina Melikhova complained about the authorities’ claim to evict her and her children from their house in the village of Yablonovsky. On February 10, about twenty people gathered in front of the house of Marina Melikhova to support her protest against the eviction. The court marshal they were waiting for did not come.
The court marshal claimed that the eviction would take place, but did not specify when.
Marina Melikhova denies that the house where her family lives is used as a hostel. The activist states that only her relatives live there. Marina Melikhova also reports that she owns seven properties, which have been under arrest for seven years as part of her company’s bankruptcy. At the same time, Marina Melikhova denies non-payment of taxes, which is why her property has been under arrest.
Earlier, Marina Melikhova had been convicted of public calls for extremist activity and served more than two years of imprisonment. The activist was released in the summer of 2022. Marina Melikhova claims that in 2018, the law enforcement bodies deprived her of her successful business. The company, which employed 500 people, was fined, as Marina Melikhova claims, unlawfully, 176 million roubles.
Lawyer Roman Klykov believes that the on-going heating season and the children living in the Marina Melikhova’s house are a good reason to ask for a deferment of the court’s decision and contact the guardianship authorities to protect the children’s rights.
Let us remind you that in August 2024, a court fined Marina Melikhova, considering her pacifist poem addressed to her grandfather, who perished in World War II, to be discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.
