Suspect of attempting on Tumso outlines third suspect's role in the case

Ruslan Mamaev, accused of attacking Tumso Abdurakhmanov in Sweden, had received his assignment from a man from Chechnya, who was arrested in absentia. Mamaev may receive political asylum in Sweden after stating that he had no plans to kill Tumso, the human rights defender has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the consideration of the attempt on Tumso Abdurakhmanov began on November 2, Mamaev has partially admitted his guilt, but he insists that he had no plans to kill the blogger, but agreed to perform the task, because he could not disobey the people who sent him to Sweden from Grozny.

Prosecutor Per Lindqvist has agrees with the version that the attack on Abdurakhmanov had to do with the "blood feud", announced by the Speaker of the Chechen Parliament after the blogger had criticized Akhmat Kadyrov, the former Chechen leader, the "Aftonbladet" newspaper has reported.

According to Mamaev, he was not going to kill Abdurakhmanov; he only wanted to injure him, so that later he could say that the attempt had failed.

Swedish human rights defenders are following the trial, Tobias Ljungwall, the editor of the "iöst.nu" portal and an employee of the "Östgruppen" initiative for democracy and human rights, has stated.

"It is possible that one of the accused of the attempt will be granted asylum in Sweden," said Mairbek Taramov, a refugee from Chechnya living in Sweden, who treats himself as a representative of the self-proclaimed Republic of Ichkeria.
