Djansukh Adleiba accepts Bzhaniya's arguments on fuel prices

Aslan Bzhaniya, the president of Abkhazia, has met Djansukh Adleiba, an activist, who had earlier held a hunger strike demanding lower fuel prices. Adleiba agreed that fuel companies could not drop prices immediately, while Bzhaniya promised that prices would come down during the first half of July.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 13, it became known that Djansukh Adleiba went on a hunger strike in a square in Sukhumi, demanding from the government to reduce prices for motor fuel. In the evening on June 28, Adleiba stopped his hunger strike after the presidential administration had promised that fuel prices would be reduced in Abkhazia within two weeks.

On July 4, a message appeared on the website of the president of Abkhazia about Aslan Bzhaniya's meeting with Djansukh Adleiba. "President Bzhaniya invited the protester (Adleiba) to the administration to explain the situation with the rising prices and get acquainted with the measures being taken to regulate the pricing policy for fuel products," the message said.

The president explained to Adleiba that prices would begin going down even before August 1. "At the fuelling stations, part of gasoline has already been sold; it has become possible to buy fuel at new prices, and sell it in the market cheaper than it was, for example, a week ago. Probably, by mid-July, prices will indeed drop to approximately the same level as in Russia so that both parties came to an understanding," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the administration of the president of Abkhazia.
