  • Volgograd court denies conscript's right to alternative service

    The Volgograd Regional Court has refused to satisfy the appeal complaint lodged by Danila Khamidulin, a conscript, who asked to replace his military service with an alternative civilian service (ACS) due to his religious beliefs. A lawyer from the military commissariat (registration and enlistment office) claims that Khamidulin had violated the deadline for filing an application.

  • European Court recognizes violation of rights of convicted Ingush native

    The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) found a violation of articles on the prohibition of torture and the right to a fair trial in relation to Lechi Gadamauiri, a native of Ingushetia, who was sentenced to 19 years of imprisonment in a case on the “Ordzhonikidze jamaat”, and also obliged Russia to pay compensation.
