Landslide in Gush-Kort threatens ziyarat of Sheikh Akhberdil-Muhammad

In the village of Gush-Kort of the Shatoi District, a landslide affected the part of the cemetery, where the ziyarat of Sheikh Akhberdil-Muhammad, a companion of Imam Shamil, was located.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 12, in the village of Gush-Kort, the landslide destroyed 10 houses where 52 people lived.

The village cemetery locates the ziyarat (mausoleum) of Akhberdil-Muhammad, one of the famous companions of Imam Shamil. In Chechnya, he is called Akhberdi Muhammad.

According to a staff member of the Chechen Ministry of Culture, the transferring of the ziyarat to another location is still not in question.

Local residents note that earlier, the Shatoi District had not been affected by landslides. They are also seriously concerned about new possible landslides.

Let us remind you that on June 14, according to the decision of the Chechen authorities, the Shatoi District started the construction of 30 houses for the residents of the village of Gush-Kort affected by the landslide. The construction is to be completed by July 6, the end of the Muslim month of Ramadan.
