Law enforcers' Friday raid at Makhachkala mosque passed without detentions

Employees of three Makhachkala police divisions were engaged in checking documents at the "Tangim" Mosque; nobody was detained. Law enforcers claimed that the raid had nothing to do with religion.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that law enforcers are regularly conducting Friday raids in the vicinity of the "Tangim" Mosque. In March, employees of the mosque complained to the prosecutor's office, after which there were fewer detentions, but the raids did not stop. On August 16, 2019, the check affected not only adults, but also teenagers.

One of the law enforcers who took part in the raid explained that they were looking for those who evade paying alimonies and are on the wanted list.
