Picketers detained in Sochi on May 14 are not satisfied with the prosecutor's response

The persons detained in Sochi on May 14 while holding individual pickets are not satisfied with the response of the city Central District prosecutor who failed to register violations in the militia actions at detaining them.

For reference, on May 14, the day of sitting of the IOC Commission in Sochi, militiamen detained and took away from Vinogradnaya to Gorki Street militia station ten persons.

The detainees were kept for more than six hours for making out reports on violation of the picketing rules under article 20.2 of the RF Code of Administrative Offences. By midnight, the "perpetrators" were released against a signed promise to appear in district court No 106 on the next day, May 15, at 9 a.m.

There was no court hearing, however. Vadim Agheyenko, deputy chair of the Central District court, stated that no materials from militia had been submitted to court.

A week after the arrest, Anatoli Minenko, Sochi Central District prosecutor, issued response No 156Z-09/1567 to the detainees' complaint in which he stated that the prosecutor's office viewed no violation in the detention. Therefore "no cause for prosecutor's office measures has been revealed". The prosecutor recommended those who did not agree with the response to apply to court with a complaint against militia actions or to appeal the response at the higher prosecutor's office or in court.
