    About a dozen people whom Tatiana Polivanova helped defend their rights to land plots in litigation with officials came to support her at a court hearing on the issue of a pre-trial restriction measure, but the activist was not brought to the Sochi court. Those gathered signed an appeal in defence of Tatiana Polivanova.

  • Activist Tatiana Polivanova detained in Sochi in criminal case

    The police conducted a search at the home of activist Tatiana Polivanova in Sochi and took her to an IVS (temporary detention facility). The court is preparing to pronounce a pre-trial restriction measure with regard to the activist, accused of acting as an intermediary in the transfer of a bribe. The relatives of the activist associate the prosecution with the Tatiana Polivanova’s public activities.

    Kazbek Mamikov, a participant in the march in Nalchik held to mark the end of the Caucasian War, who served his administrative arrest, has decided not to appeal against the court’s decision, while two other participants in the march have succeeded in their appeals to reduce their arrest terms.   • Advocate and Georgian MIA argue about circumstances of Nika Meliya’s detention

    Nika Meliya, the leader of the oppositional “Coalition for Change”, was detained administratively for insulting a policeman, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported. In his turn, Mr Meliya’s advocate asserts that his client’s detention has to do with the intention to ensure his presence at the trial on failure to comply with the demands of the parliamentary temporary investigating commission.
