15 oppositionists suffer in clash with police in Tbilisi

Eka Beseliya, secretary general of the Party "For United Georgia", has reported that as a result of a clash of the opposition with the police that took place near the building of the parliament of Georgia on June 12, 15 members of youth oppositional organizations received traumas.

According to the politician, 7 persons out of 15 received serious traumas and were brought to hospital by ambulances. Ms Beseliya accused the authorities of the incident.

"A group of young oppositionists wanted to make a 'corridor of conscience' to Bakradze who went out into the street, accompanying it by cries of protest," she said on air of the "Imedi" TV Company. "There was nothing illegal in these actions of the opposition, but in response securities of the parliament and a special group sent by the authorities beat several participants of the action."

Meanwhile, the authorities accuse the opposition of the incident saying that the young men "behaved aggressively, failed to obey the requirements of the securities and threw stones and cans at law enforcers." According to the authorities, "policemen and securities were forced to take measures to hustle the protesters off the speaker's car," as the ITAR-TASS reports.
