Two persons killed by one of two explosions in Abkhazia

On the day of the visit to Abkhazia of Russian Premier Vladimir Putin, two explosions took place in Sukhumi and Gagra. The latter killed Liudmila Surina, 52, in situ and wounded David Metreveli, 25, who later died.

According to Ramin Gablaya, first deputy minister of internal affairs, at 4:47 p.m. in Gagra an unidentified bomb was triggered. The explosive was planted into a garbage bin in the Nartaa Street near the building of the LLC "YUTEKA".

The explosion also caused fragmental wounds to the Samchenko family (husband, wife and a child) who were passing by. Now, they are in the Gagra District Hospital; their lives are out of danger. Four persons more addressed for minor medical aid.

In the evening, an explosion took place in Sukhumi. Nugzar Samsoniya, acting chairman of the State Security Service of Abkhazia, said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the explosion happened at 8:20 p.m. Moscow time in Sukhumi embankment.

According to his story, a non-shell explosive was planted under a tree near the "Elborus" restaurant. Nobody suffered as a result of this explosion.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

    A shootout took place near an office of the “Wildberries” Company in the centre of Moscow. As a result, at least one person has been killed and several others have been wounded, sources report.
