Court adjudges 70,000 roubles from HRC "Memorial" and Orlov in Kadyrov's favour
The court has satisfied the claim of President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov to the head of the HRC "Memorial" Oleg Orlov on defence of honour and dignity and ruled to collect 50,000 roubles from the HRC and 20,000 roubles personally from Orlov in favour of the claimant.
Andrei Krasnenkov, Ramzan Kadyrov's advocate, said that he would not appeal against this court decision, unlike Anna Stavitskaya, defender for Oleg Orlov and the HRC "Memorial", who promised to appeal against the ruling.
Anna Karetnikova, Oleg Orlov's advocate, has stated that Orlov's phrase about Kadyrov's political guilt of Natalia Estemirova's death contains no data discrediting Kadyrov.
According to her story, the European Court has developed the principle of tolerance, under which politicians should be more lenient to criticism. "We've presented plenty of proofs that Orlov had the right to draw his conclusion and express it in his estimative judgement," Ms Stavitskaya has noted.
Sergey Davidis, another Orlov's advocate, said in his conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had hoped for a positive decision of the court. "If it's our defeat, then, I think, it will be minimal, that is, minimal payment and, probably, a demand to refute 1-2 phrases," Mr Davidis assumed prior to the adjudgement.
