Krasnodar "greens" to complain to Russian FSB of their detention by frontier guards in Sochi
Activists of the Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus are writing a letter to Alexander Bortnikov, head of the FSB, with complaints against the actions of the FSB frontier guards, who had detained ecologists for breaking the frontier regime. This was reported by Suren Gazaryan, member of the Board of the Ecological Watch.
The decision on administrative punishment was made by frontier guards. It was planned that already today the activists of the Ecological Watch would go to the Adler District Court with their claim.
However, according to Mr Gazaryan, the "greens" have decided to postpone lodging the claim till Tuesday, October 20, as they want first to receive an answer from the authorities to the appeal of the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) and Greenpeace to Dmitri Kozak, Deputy Chair of Russian Government.
"I hope that the authorities will cancel the frontier guards' sanctions, otherwise tomorrow, on October 20, we'll go to court. So far, we wait for their reaction," Gazaryan said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent and expressed his scepticism that the Court would ever cancel the frontier guards' ruling.
"Today in the evening I'll write a complaint to Bortnikov, head of the FSB, of his frontier guards' actions - how they had behaved when detaining us by force, which they had no rights to do. The legitimacy of their actions demands estimation and investigation. The main point is not that they drew up protocols on us, but the way they behaved," Mr Gazaryan said.
