Shein: Prosecutor's Office of Astrakhan "buries" the cases about journalists' beatings

Oleg Shein, a Deputy of the Russian State Duma from the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" and a former candidate to the post of Mayor of Astrakhan, is convinced that the Prosecutor's Office of Astrakhan tries to close the cases initiated after two journalists were beaten on the voting day.

"On the fact of beating the journalists of the Internet medium 'Caucasian Knot' and Astrakhan-based newspaper 'Zhytel' we addressed the State Office of Public Prosecutor. Because now, apparently, thy try to 'bury' this case. Thus, the second beaten journalist - Oleg Teplischev, who was with your correspondent Vyacheslav Yaschenko and who recently went to interrogation to the Prosecutor's Office, was told there, according to his version, that 'it was not deputy Shabanov from 'Edinaya Rossiya' who had personally beaten him, but certain people who were near Shabanov, and these people should still be established', and, according to Teplischev, nobody is eager to deal with this case there. Therefore, we address to the General Prosecutor's Office," Oleg Shein said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In the Astrakhan Prosecutor's Office, the woman who answered to the telephone number of the press service, preferred not to name herself. She explained the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that on the fact of the attack on journalist Oleg Teplischev a check is currently held, and as to the application about the attack on the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent Vyacheslav Yaschenko, the Astrakhan Prosecutor's Office had sent all the materials to the Volgograd Prosecutor's Office, where Mr Yaschenko lives.
