Doku Umarov has no means for huge terror acts, Chechen power agents assert

The militants' statement about their involvement in blowing up the "Neva-Express" train is treated by power agents as another "propaganda duck" of separatists. They assert that Doku Umarov has neither real means nor capacities to commit large-scale diversions and terror acts outside the republic.

"The statement of the militants that the 'Neva-Express' train was blown up under Doku Umarov's order is nothing but a bluff and a PR-action, aimed to draw attention of their foreign sponsors. At present, Umarov has no real power and chances to commit any large-scale terror act, as he'd probably like," a high-ranking officer of the Chechen MIA asserts.

According to his story, today we cannot even say for sure that Doku is alive. "For a rather long time he has no communication with his allies; gives no interviews or statements. It means that either he is in deep underground, fearing detection and liquidation, or was heavily wounded and gets his treatment somewhere, possible, even outside the region; or just killed," said the officer.

As asserted by the source of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, the practically incessant special operations against members of the armed underground, conducted in Chechnya and neighbouring Ingushetia from this spring, have seriously undermined the forces of militants.

President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov also said yesterday, on December 2, that he did not believe in any involvement of militants in blowing up the "Neva-Express" train. "Umarov not only has nothing to do with the Chechen people, and, on the contrary, he's the enemy number one both for the whole Russian people and for me personally," he said. "It's not excluded that by this statement Umarov and his retinue want to direct the investigation in the wrong way."
