Georgian opposition demanded to release political prisoners

On February 5, activists of Georgian oppositional parties held a march of protest with a demand to release political prisoners. They stuck posters to the wall of buildings in the Rustaveli Avenue with photos of political prisoners.

"We'll hold protest actions until the last illegally imprisoned inmate is at large. If Saakashvili fails to set all the political prisoners free, we'll have to put an end to his regime," the "Mir" TV Company quotes Zurab Nogaideli, leader of the "Movement for Fair Georgia".

Kakha Kukava, one of the leaders of Conservative Party, has reminded about the litigation against Tsotne, son of the former President of Georgia Zviad Gamsakhurdia, accused of espionage in favour of Russia. "On February 11, Tsotne's trial will start, and we'll protest against his custody," Mr Kukava has promised.

The politician called the population to join the protest action to be held on February 11 at the City Court of Tbilisi, the GHN reports.
