Hurricane leaves 50,000 families without electricity in Georgia
In Georgia, over fifty thousand families remain without electricity. On February 12, the cities of Poti and Kutaisi suffered from hurricane, when the wind reached 30 meters per second. Weather forecasters warn that today bad weather will cover the whole country.
As a result of strong wind on February 12 in Georgia, hundreds of houses were damaged, many lost their roofs. Roads are blocked with fallen trees and, as a consequence, multi-kilometre jams. Electric mains were broken.
The greatest damage was caused to Poti. Strong wind raged also in Imereti. According to the "Georgia Today", in Kutaisi roofs of houses and electric lines were damaged, century-old trees were rooted up.
The "News Georgia" adds, with reference to weather forecasters that improvement of weather conditions is expected in two days. Frosts and snowfalls are expected in the next few days.
