In Georgia, the elements hit Kakhetia again

In Georgia, torrential rains, hail and hurricane caused great damage in Kvarelsky and Gurjaani districts, in particular, villages of Balgodzhian, Tsitskanaantseri, Eniseli and Vazisubani. The elements destroyed about 30% of the harvest, vineyards and spring crops.

In addition, the water flooded the ground floors and cellars of private homes. Poultry and cattle are destroyed. The hurricane uprooted ancient trees and poles and wires.

Because of bad weather, the car traffic along Lagodekhi - Qvareli highway was suspended for several hours.

As it was stated by head of the Kvarelskogo district administration Gia Tsintsadze, the road is now unblocked from the fallen trees and poles, but it is still unclear when power supply will be restored.

Kakhetia's information center journalist Gela Mtivlishvili, in his telephone conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, said that natural disaster had caused great damage - no one remembers such hurricane here.

According to the journalist, a commission to assess damage was formed in the district self-governing administration, but this commission, Mtivlishvili noted, would assess, as usual, only the damage caused to government agencies and energy companies, and the loss of the villages will remain uncompensated.
