In Dagestan, fire victims get ready for protest actions

On August 11, a protest action will be held in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, by the tenants of the family hostel in the city of Kaspiisk, which burnt down on July 22. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by Abdullah Magomedov, one of the victims.

"As a result of the fire, 154 persons, including 46 children, remained without roof over their heads. Today, we live in tents in the yard of the hostel; nobody helps us; that is why we'll start a rally - maybe then the local, republic's or federal authorities will pay attention to our problems," he said.

According to Mr Magomedov, the victims are ready to any steps. "My neighbour went to the city administration and asked for help, but bureaucrats told her that it was beyond their powers. In despair, she took some poison trying to commit suicide," he said and added that several children were hospitalized because of sunstrokes.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the administration of Kaspiisk that the mayoralty renders some feasible help to fire victims but has no resources to give then individual flats.
