Forest fires catch villages in North Ossetia

Within 24 hours on August 8 firemen of North Ossetia 27 times went out to fight fires of dead woods, which were on fire in the settlements of Vinogradny, Mozdok, Pavlodolskaya, Prokhladny, Alagir, Novy and Stary Biragzang, Batako, Beslan, Digor, Chermen, Oktiabrski, Gizel, Vladikavkaz, Dachny, Kizlyar and Ardon.

As reported by the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) of North Ossetia, the main causes of fires are in careless fire handling and - sometimes - deliberate people's actions, who set garbage and dry grass on fire.

According to Yulia Starchenko, head of the press service of the MfE, activists of the North-Ossetian branch of the "Russian Rescuers' Union" initiated collection of humanitarian help: clothes and prime necessities for fire victims in Russian regions. Residents of North Ossetia are already bringing their charities, children's things and toys in particular.
