Rally in memory of deportation victims held in Karachay-Cherkessia

Today the city of Karachaevsk hosted a mourning rally, dated to the 67th anniversary of the deportation of the Karachay nationals to Central Asia.

The ceremony was attended by President of the Republic Boris Ebzeev, representatives of regional authorities, delegations of cities and regions of Karachay-Cherkessia, residents of the republic, the "Interfax" reports.

November 2 is the Day of Memory and Grief. But it's also a holiday - celebration of people's spirit and courage of our fathers and mothers. 14 years of genocide could not break the spiritual power of these people, who genuinely love their Fatherland and their small homelands," said Mr Ebzeev.

Arkadi Goryaev, Chairman of the Union of Repressed Nations of Russia, reported about publication of a monograph on the contribution of repressed nations of the Soviet Union into the victory in the Great Patriotic War. It includes materials covering the contribution of six nations - Russian Germans, Karachays, Kalmyks, Chechens, Ingushes and Balkars, as reported by the website of the President and the Government of Karachay-Cherkessia.
