Novoaleksandrovsk
Rayon (sector) centre in Stavropol kray (region), 110 km of Stavropol. Located in Ciscaucasia, on the Rasshevatka River (the basin of Zapadny Manych). The railway station of Rasshevatka is in Kavkazskaya - Elista line. Population (1992 est.) 27.1 thousand, (1979 est.) 22.7 thousand.
Founded in 1804 by migrants from central governments (provinces) of Russia (Voronezh, Kursk, etc.) as the stanitsa (Cossack village) of Novoaleksandrovskaya in the Azov line. City of Novoaleksandrovsk since 1971.
Present Novoaleksandrovsk is an agricultural centre with industry oriented on processing of local agricultural raw materials. Food-processing industry (a bakery, a creamery, a brewery, etc.). By the beginning of the 1990s, the town also had 2 brickworks, an engineering plant, a repair works, a feed factory and a branch of the Vesna clothes factory.
