Festival "Caucasus Is Our Common Home" will be held every second year, organizers say
The interregional festival of national cultures "Caucasus Is Our Common Home" that was held on October 9-11 in Vladikavkaz will become traditional and will be held every second year, said Luiza Kabulova, the head of the division of the North-Ossetian Centre of Traditional Culture and Ethnic Tourism "Farn".
The festival was attended by dance and choral companies, vocal and folk groups from all the regions of North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) – in total, over 150 performers; most of them came for the first time.
Alexander Totoonov, a Senator from North Ossetia and a member of the Committee on Culture of the Russian Council of the Federation, said in his welcoming word that such events should strengthen the interrelations of the subjects of the District.
Ms Kabulova has agreed that such festivals contribute to the mutual influence of cultures and added that this year's festival was different from the one in 2011, since the previous one covered the vocal and dance components broader.
Some people in the audience complained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the event was poorly covered by the media.
"I got here just accidentally, but I loved it. I saw no advertisements, nothing, maybe my neighbours would also like to come and see. We are for peace: we'd like more people come here; and more our people going elsewhere," said Marina Chelokhsaeva, a resident of Vladikavkaz.
