Rally in Nagorno-Karabakh rejects Warlick's proposals on Karabakh settlement

On May 19, youth organizations and student councils of Karabakh universities released an appeal, adopted during a protest rally in Stepanakert against the statement of James Warlick, the US' Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group for peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

On May 18, near the residence of the President of Nagorno-Karabakh, which housed the meeting of the republic's leadership with the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, over 150 activists of youth organizations and university student councils held a rally against six points of Warlick's proposal, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

In particular, the first point of the appeal notes that "Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh are the parties of the Karabakh conflict." The third point reads that "the settlement of the Karabakh problem cannot be based on arbitrary interpretation of international principles by Azerbaijan, or anybody else."

"The worst case scenario for all is the resumption of hostilities, therefore, despite possible differences, all have to try to find a way out," said Warlick, adding that the protest was a surprise for him, but nevertheless, he decided to get out of the car and communicate with the protesters."

Let us note here that the parties to the conflict regularly accuse each other of violating the ceasefire.
