KBR commemorates law enforcers killed in attack on Nalchik
Today, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) holds events on the Memory the Day of the fallen law enforcers, which is dated to the anniversary of the attack on Nalchik in 2005. In addition to the mourning events, the republic also holds the meetings with family members of the fallen law enforcers, and schools hold lessons of courage.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that as a result of the attack on Nalchik, which occurred on October 13, 2005, 35 law enforcers and soldiers, 14 civilians and 92 attackers were killed. 129 law enforcers and 66 civilians were wounded. 57 suspected attackers were detained. At present, they are awaiting sentencing, and most of them do not admit their guilt.
Nine years after the attack on Nalchik, the armed conflict in the KBR is still not settled. The republic continues to experience special operations and armed clashes. In 2014, suspected members of the armed underground and law enforcers fell victims to the armed clashes.
According to the "Caucasian Knot", in the second half of 2014, at least 22 persons fell victim to the KBR's armed conflict in Kabardino-Balkaria, while in the first half of 2014, their number was at least 15 persons. In 2013, according to the "Caucasian Knot", at least 123 persons suffered in the KBR, including 92 killed and 31 wounded persons.
