Georgian oppositionist Yuri Vazagashvili killed by explosion at his son's grave
Georgian citizen Yuri Vazagashvili has perished in an explosion that occurred at the grave of his son Zurab Vazagashvili killed in the special operation carried out in 2006. The Prosecutor's Office considers the version of the premeditated murder.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Zurab Vazagashvili was killed in May 2006. Policemen shot and killed him at tennis courts in a BMW car. According to the police, he and passengers of the cars were plotting an armed assault on a Tbilisi family. Relatives and friends of Zurab Vazagashvili denied the above version and demanded a thorough investigation.
According to the preliminary information, the explosion, which killed Yuri Vazagashvili on January 20, occurred when Yuri Vazagashvili was changing flowers on the grave of his son in the village of Karapila of the Kaspi District of Georgia, the "Caucasus Online" reports with reference to the Prosecutor's Office.
After the death of his son, Yuri Vazagashvili took part in various protest actions and demanded to conduct a fair investigation into the incident. Mamuka Chikovani, an advocate of the Vazagashvili family, does not rule out that the explosion can be connected with the investigation into the death of Zurab Vazagashvili.
On January 20, members of NGOs and friends of the Vazagashvili family held in front of the Georgian parliament building in central Tbilisi an action demanding to investigate the death of Yuri Vazagashvili without delays.
