"EcoWatch": in Krasnodar, Kuban River polluted by sewage effluents

In Krasnodar, activists of the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch) have found three places where sewage effluents are charged into the Kuban River.

On March 25, members of the "EcoWatch" examined the section of the embankment of the Kuban River along Kuban Embankment Streets, from Turgenev Bridge to Gogol Street, the press release of the "EcoWatch" reports.

One of the discharges of sewage effluents has been found by the activists at the place where Kuban Embankment connects with Karasunskaya Street, and the second discharge in front of the business centre "Premier". Here, according to Alexander Saveliev, an activist of the "EcoWatch", "the discharge of sewage effluents to the Kuban River was proved by faeces, a large number of that emerged in an embankment niche."

"It seemed that floating faeces did not embarrass city residents, who had a rest near the river. Not far from the sewage discharge, parents were walking with their children, who were throwing stones to the riverside muck. And ten meters from the place, fishermen dropped their fishing rods down into the muck," the website of the "EcoWatch" quotes Alexander Saveliev as saying.

One more place of sewage discharge was found by the activists in front of the Turgenev Bridge.
