Ramzan Kadyrov's personnel policy strengthens positions of his family
Recent appointments made by Ramzan Kadyrov indicate his desire to strengthen the position of his family members and to demonstrate to the federal centre the solidarity of his team. This opinion has been expressed by experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 3, Islam Kadyrov, a 28-year-old cousin of Ramzan Kadyrov, who used to occupy the post of the Mayor of Grozny, was appointed the head of the administration of the Chechen leader and the Chechen government.
"Ramzan Kadyrov continues to promote his family members and people loyal to him to the key positions. And earlier, he has also pursued the same policy which implies to have loyal people close to him," Varvara Pakhomenko, a consultant of the International Crisis Group, has stated in her comment to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The Ramzan Kadyrov's personnel policy is based on "the promotion of the interests of the Chechen leader's clan," "which can be explained by the growing number of external challenges." This opinion was expressed by Alexei Malashenko, a member of the Scientific Council of the Moscow Carnegie Centre.
"After the events of this year, including the situation with the shooting of Djambulat Dadaev, the scandalous marriage, and the murder of Boris Nemtsov, Chechnya faces a consolidation of power," Alexei Malashenko has said. According to the expert, Ramzan Kadyrov understands that at present, he should "keep the power in his hands."
"And the fact that Daudov has been appointed the Speaker is also an indicator. Like never before, Ramzan Kadyrov should prove to Vladimir Putin that the Chechen leader is surrounded by loyal people. And he now proves that," Alexei Malashenko told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
