Residents of Chechnya pay tribute to Kunta-haji Kishiev
Chechnya is holding large-scale religious events to mark the birthday of Kunta-haji Kishiev, one of the most revered saints in the republic.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Kunta-haji Kishiev, whose birthday is celebrated on July 11, was the founder of Zikrism and the Sufi order in Chechnya and Ingushetia.
"Today, the republic celebrates the birthday of our great ustaz (teacher) Kunta-haji Kishiev. On this occasion, all the mosques will preach about his life and work and perform the rites of Mawlid and Zikr (Dhikr). The rite of sacrifice will also take place," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Chechnya.
Throughout the day, the republic's authorities will ensure free transportation of all residents of the republic, who want to visit the ziyart (tomb) of Kunta-haji Kishiev's mother, located in the village of Ertan in the mountainous Vedeno District. The Khedi-ziyart is one of the major religious relics in Chechnya; and it is visited annually by thousands of pilgrims, both from the republic and from neighbouring regions.
