Resident of Kabardino-Balkaria detained on suspicion of helping militants
In Kabardino-Balkaria, law enforcers initiated criminal proceedings against a local resident suspected of supplying of members of the armed underground with housing, food, and vehicles.
The suspect was detained in the Zolsky District. During the search of his car, policemen seized a sawn-off shotgun, 40 rounds of ammunition and hashish oil, the press service of the Chief Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports.
The police found out that in 2013-2014, the man provided shelter, food, and vehicles to members of an illegal armed formation (IAF), acting on the territory of Kabardino-Balkaria, the website of the MIA's Chief Department for the NCFD reports.
The criminal case is instituted under Articles "illegal acquisition, possession of drugs", "arms trafficking", and "illegal manufacture of weapons". These above articles stipulate 3-10, up to 4, and 3-5 years of imprisonment, respectively.
The question on the charge against the detainee under the article on helping militants is under consideration, the "Interfax-South" reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on August 3, a resident of the Cherek District of Kabardino-Balkaria was detained on suspicion of providing shelter, food, and medicines to a member of the armed underground.
